National Saturday art club

Visit to Somerset House to see the summer exhibition of young Uk artists 14-18years who meet every Saturday to create amazing art, design, engineering and writing. Here is some of their work and just to say how heartening it is to see this future generation of creatives engaging at such a high level with some top practitioners in a diverse range of studios from technology to architecture.

Landscapes of the imagination workshop at the Heong Gallery, cambridge

Hideki Arichi and Sarah Blake enjoyed exploring the kettle’s Yard exhibition ‘ a sense of place’ followed by an art workshop with 20 visitors. We really enjoyed your art work as you visualised your sensory memories of a landscape familiar to you. Here are some of the works created:

Yorkshire Dales, Acrylic on board

Acrylic on board, these two paintings were inspired by a February visit to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton in Yorkshire. The sky took on a heavy grey and gusted along the sweep of hills as the sun started to set. I spent 3 years living and studying at the YSS specialising in bronze casting so it took me back to those days in the mid 1980’s. It is always a delight to visit hilly landscapes as I’m now based in East Anglia… not an area known for mountain views!
